Ms. Davis' previous legal experience was in plaintiff work and federal government. She served as a law clerk at Barkan + Neff while attending law school in Columbus, Ohio. While at Barkan + Neff, she assisted disabled clients from Ohio and Northern West Virginia in obtaining disability income benefits and supplemental security income.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Davis worked as a clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia. There, she assisted attorneys and paralegals in trial preparation for several major cases including the prosecutions in the Keystone National Bank failure case. She assisted with both civil and criminal cases.
Ms. Davis graduated from West Virginia State College [now West Virginia State University] in 2000 with an Associate Degree in Business Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In May 2003, she received a Juris Doctorate and Certificate of Concentration in Juvenile and Family Law from Capital University Law School.
While attending law school, she was involved in many volunteer projects providing food to local food pantries, gathering school supplies for inner-city schools, donating clothing to shelters for battered and abused women and children, and providing clothing for the homeless. Ms. Davis also volunteered at the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. As a volunteer for the foundation, she reviewed and summarized the decisions of courts throughout the United States on Family Law issues.
