Melissa Kern practices in Frost Brown Todd's Intellectual Property department. Her practice is focused on negotiating and drafting intellectual property agreements with an emphasis on copyright law and information technology. A partial list of agreements includes the following: application service provider (ASP), systems integration, web linking, web hosting, license, development and service, reseller, referral, distribution, source code escrow, website user agreements including terms of use for websites that host user-generated content, non-disclosure, copyright assignment, copyright policy, photo release as well as other consents and releases, photo license, privacy policy, and publishing agreements.
Ms. Kern's practice also involves advising clients, researching and drafting legal memoranda and opinion letters, and providing litigation support focusing on areas of copyright, licensing, information technology, publishing, entertainment, and Internet law.
During the 2005-2006 school year, Ms. Kern was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law where she taught contract law, copyright law, and electronic commerce law.
Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, Ms. Kern worked at Ernst & Young LLP in Chicago, Illinois, as part of its information technology consulting group.
