Inside Experience
Frost Brown Todd counts among its ranks dozens of attorneys who have spent extensive time as in-house counsel, General Counsel, and officers in large corporations, including Great American Insurance Co., Procter and Gamble, General Electric, JM Smucker Company, Ashland, Inc., and Brown-Forman.
These attorneys have helped instill in our firm a sensitivity to the requirements of in-house counsel, including the need for prompt communication, an ability to anticipate emerging legal issues, and a genuine interest in client feedback. In addition, they have influenced the culture of our firm to “raise the bar” on our interaction with clients and quality of service.
Efficient Legal Services
Frost Brown Todd focuses on delivering to clients what they need most: sound legal counsel, responsive service, concise communications and an eye toward being as efficient in our representation as possible. We favor a lean staffing model in which the likely needs of a project are considered at the outset. Many of our projects are handled by a single lawyer, who becomes intimately familiar with the facts and laws relevant to the project. This approach reduces costs and avoids potential for duplicative work. In some projects, a threshold staffing assessment indicates that more than one attorney will be needed and a team of lawyers must be assembled. Our team includes qualified associates, paralegals and project assistants who can capably handle work requiring different levels of expertise. All matters are overseen by the relationship or billing attorney to assure the highest standards of work product quality and strict adherence to technical requirements.
FBT believes that all clients are firm clients. At the same time, we encourage our attorneys to be passionate about our client’s business and their success. This guides our decisions to focus on doing what is in the best interests of our clients, to spend time understanding the complexities of the clients’ businesses and industries and to be accessible to clients as their needs dictate.
Assignments to attorneys, paralegals and assistants are made on the basis of the (1) complexity and sensitivity of the matter; (2) deadlines; (3) billing rates; and (4) applicable specialization. Tasks which can be accomplished by paralegals or associates are performed at that level and reviewed by a partner. More complex issues are performed by experienced partners to assure the most efficient delivery of the best quality legal services.
Productive Technologies
Frost Brown Todd uses a broad range of technology solutions to enhance its efficiency and communication with clients. In particular, the firm makes extensive use of secure extranets with its clients. Each extranet is custom designed to client specifications, often with several layers of access. We currently manage various categories of information on our extranets, including correspondence, pleadings, transcripts, expert materials, contracts, document production repositories, project management databases, searchable Access databases, videos, client training and reporting materials, and client reports. FBT can also electronically interface with clients by secure e-mail or through customized solutions developed to client specifications.
In addition, FBT is extremely well versed in electronic billing, has deep experience in a wide variety of matter management and document management software, and uses the latest cost-saving technologies such as video conferencing, high volume scanning, e-copy and scan and other technologies to minimize our costs.
