Resource Legal Secretary

This position will provide secretarial assistance to attorneys in all practice groups through “floating assignments”. The position is not assigned to any one practice group.  Assignments may be short-term for just a day or months providing assistance when an attorney’s secretary is out of the office.  The position will also provide assistance during the day as needed in crunch situations, special projects, etc.  A minimum of five years of previous legal experience in both corporate and litigation law is preferred.  This position will work Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Paralegal

Requirements:

Candidates should have three-five years of experience, preferably in the government service area, and should understand the inner workings of state, county, municipal and township governments.  The selected candidate will assist with drafting resolutions and ordinances for various public sector clients.  The selected candidate will also assist with government services litigation, such that an understanding of Ohio public records law and eminent domain litigation is desirable.  Previous work experience or knowledge in the areas of economic development and real estate transactions in the public sector would be an additional asset.  Other types of litigation, including construction, insurance and product liability, will be a portion of the candidate’s workload.  Drafting pleadings, assisting with discovery, and preparing for trial are therefore additional preferred skill sets.  Experience with electronic discovery and managing large document databases is also preferred. 

This position requires a minimum of a Paralegal diploma/certificate with a college degree preferred. Candidates should have strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient computer skills using MS Office applications; flexibility to work overtime as needed; good organizational skills; ability to work well under deadlines; and excellent interpersonal skills.
