Carl Arthur Henlein

Counsel

Carl Henlein counsels and litigates in the areas of tort and product liability law and represents national clients in complex, serial and mass disaster litigation. His clients have included AkzoNobel Inc., BASF Corporation, B.F. Goodrich, Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc., Chevron USA, Conoco, Inc., Eastman Kodak, Inc., E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company, Foamex International, General Electric, Imperial Chemical Industries PLC, Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly Clark, LG&E Energy, Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co. ("3M"), Monsanto Corporation, Scott Paper Company, Tenneco, Inc., United States Steel Corporation and Zeneca, Inc.  He has served as lead counsel and represented group product manufacturers and insurers in major disaster and complex serial tort litigation, appearing in courts from New York City to Los Angeles, and from Chicago to San Juan.  He was the Defendants' Trial Liaison Counsel for more than 70 defendants in the San Juan Dupont Plaza Hotel Fire Litigation (MDL 721) and defended two dozen defendants at trial.

He has designed preemptive defense strategies for several clients and products including the Segway, Silica and PVC exposures and latex glove claims.  He has also organized and maintained the defense of massive litigation exposures, including the World Trade Center claims arising from the post-9/11 cleanup and the HMO litigation. He is presently serving as a National Coordinating Counsel in the national Breast Implant Litigation and in the national Lead Paint Litigation, defending lawsuits pending in federal and state courts.
