Communication and Collaboration
Communication and collaboration are the cornerstones of our technology investment strategy. We know that effective and timely communication is important to our clients, so in addition to email and telephone communications, voice, video and web conferencing are available and in use at all offices. Our technology enables us to collaborate effectively and securely without regard to where the parties are located. It doesn’t matter if they are down the hall or on the other side of the world. This allows us to bring all of our resources to bear on any case at any time. Our clients also use our extranet services in a variety of ways. For example, our extranet features deal rooms to share drafts of agreements as they are created, policy and procedure document repositories, central storage for environmental compliance documentation, status reporting for immigration cases and litigation case status.
E-discovery related litigation-support technology has been one of the hottest growth areas in the legal technology arena. This has been in response to the exponential growth in the size of the electronic document collections at play in modern litigation cases. We have addressed this through strategic investments in technology, allowing us to process, analyze, review and produce the typical large volume of documents and emails related to these cases. We have also developed strategic partnerships with outside service providers that augment these services as needed. This combination of services allows us to respond to cases of any size. We have a dedicated litigation support staff that provides internal consulting services, data processing and trial support services to the firm.
Tools of the Trade
The firm uses the top software products in the industry, Elite Enterprise and Redwood, to track, bill and report on all firm activity. Our systems also allow us to meet our clients’ sophisticated electronic billing and compliance needs. Every attorney and staff member has access to a wide array of software tools, including Microsoft Office 2007, Autonomy/iManage document management, Winscribe digital dictation, Summation for litigation document review, CaseMap for litigation case management and online research tools from Westlaw and Lexis. These are just a few of the over 125 applications available inside the firm to assist in performing and managing our legal work.
Security and Disaster Recovery
Security and disaster recovery are top priorities at Frost Brown Todd. All of our data is securely replicated to an alternate location where it can be brought back online if we experience a disaster of any kind. We have an intrusion monitoring system on watch for suspicious activity, and all Internet and email communications are monitored for viruses, spam and malware. We also provide encrypted email communications to our clients who require it.
