Frost Brown Todd Attorneys Awarded “Practitioners of the Year”

W. Russell Wilson and E. Richard Oberschmidt of Frost Brown Todd and Michael N. Barnett of Western & Southern Financial Group’s law department have been awarded “Practitioners of the Year” by the Real Property Law Committee of the Cincinnati Bar Association. Wilson, Oberschmidt, and Barnett share the award for their work on the lease with anchor tenant American Financial Group, Inc. for over 500,000 square feet of space at Great American Tower at Queen City Square. The Great American Tower, as well as the whole Queen City Square complex, is a development of Eagle Realty Group, a member of Western & Southern Financial Group.
The lease has enabled the construction of what will be the tallest office building developed in Cincinnati’s Central Business District. Mario San Marco, President of Eagle Realty Group, commented, “This is a long term lease and, we believe, it represents the largest office space transaction ever executed in Greater Cincinnati.” The University of Cincinnati’s Economics Center for Education and Research has estimated that the Tower will attract or retain as many as 8,000 jobs in the Central Business District, as well as the numerous jobs it has provided within the construction industry thus far.
Oberschmidt is a Partner at Frost Brown Todd and represents clients in a wide array of real estate acquisition, development and finance matters. Oberschmidt has over 30 years of experience in the financing and development of residential projects, medical office buildings, retail centers, and downtown office towers. He also represents borrowers in healthcare financing matters including tax-exempt bond transactions, lines of credit and medical office building financings. Wilson is also a Partner at Frost Brown Todd and focuses his practice on the representation of owners and developers of commercial real estate, with a particular emphasis on office buildings and shopping centers. Wilson also has considerable experience representing nationally-recognized homebuilders in the acquisition and development of land for residential uses.
Barnett is a member of the law department at Western & Southern Financial Group and is the primary in-house counsel for Western & Southern's real estate investment, mortgage loan and other real estate activities.
