Frost Brown Todd is saddened by the passing of one of its partners, Randolph A. Brown, on December 18, 2009.  Mr. Brown was a founding partner of Brown, Todd and Heyburn (now Frost Brown Todd) and was the first chair of the Wills, Trusts and Estates practice group.

He was a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and a proud alumnus.  Mr. Brown was a community advocate and participated in several leadership positions including:

  • Louisville Bar Association, Past President, 1963
  • Kentucky Bar Association, Member of the Probate Committee, 1976-1989
  • American Bar Association, Member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section
  • American College of Trust and Estate Counsel
  • Kentucky Legislature, Member, 1940-41
  • Louisville Free Public Library, Trustee, 1971-1982

Mr. Brown was admitted to the Kentucky Bar Association in 1936. He was a Member of the Kentucky Legislature and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky in 1941 and between 1946-1948.  Mr. Brown was a life-long Democrat and served as a Member of the Governor’s Judicial Advisory Council while Governors Ford and Carroll were in office. “He will be remembered as a true gentleman whose light-heartedness and good nature made him a joy to be around,” said John R. Crockett III, the firm’s current Chairman.  Though Mr. Brown had been retired from the firm for some time, his legacy lives on today.
