Martin E. Simmons

Counsel

Martin E. Simmons is Of Counsel to the Firm in Frost Brown Todd’s Nashville, Tennessee office.  Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, Mr. Simmons served First American Corporation, a bank holding company now a part of Regions Financial Corporation, as General Counsel, Principal Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary. 

Mr. Simmons has had extensive dealings with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Reserve Board in a number of bank and non-bank acquisitions as well as a variety of regulatory issues.  As Chairman of the Lawyers Committee of the American Bankers Insurance Association, Simmons was involved in the negotiation and drafting of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act on Financial Modernization.

In addition to advising bank boards of directors, Simmons has also served as a bank director himself.  He has also served as counsel to, and a director of, a broker dealer operating in the bank distribution channel.

Simmons also has experience in representing individual bank directors in regulatory enforcement actions.

Mr. Simmons currently serves the firm as Counsel for the Regulated Business Section of the Corporate Department.
