Frost Brown Todd Distinguished as "Absolute Best" by BTI

Frost Brown Todd has been recognized by mid and large sized companies as one of the nation’s top 30 law firms in client service, an annual ranking published by BTI Consulting Group Inc. In announcing the survey results, BTI reported that “Clients lauded the firm for the quality of its counsel and service, its competitive rates and its willingness to invest in and train top-notch legal talent.”

Frost Brown Todd moves onto The BTI Client Service 30 for the first time, landing in the 25th spot (out of 505) in the survey. To win its place on the Top 30 list, Frost Brown Todd improved its rating in 9 of the survey’s 17 activities that drive superior client service, and earned a “Leader of the Best” ranking in the “Meets Scope and Budget” category.

“In a highly competitive marketplace, we try to set ourselves apart with outstanding quality and service,” said John R. Crockett III, Chairman of Frost Brown Todd. “We are thrilled that corporate counsel recognize us in this way, and are encouraged to work even harder to serve their needs.”

For the 2010 BTI Client Service 30, BTI Consulting Group interviewed hundreds of company attorneys and executives who routinely purchase legal services.  From these interviews, BTI identified 505 law firms serving large and Fortune 1,000 clients. Corporate counsel participating in the survey identified 210 of those firms as having superior client service.  That list then was narrowed to 30 firms that truly distinguish themselves.

BTI Consulting Group describes The BTI Client Service 30 as “the cream of the crop” of the BTI Client Service A-Team. Specific comments from the survey said Frost Brown Todd provides “outstanding, quality service and service consistency,” and commended the firm for developing “an innovative training program for their new hires.”

"Frost Brown Todd has shown steady improvement across client service, their leadership position is built on a strong foundation of client outreach and value" said Michael B. Rynowecer, BTI President. "This plays directly to client needs," Rynowecer continued.

Earlier this year, as other law firms responded to the economic climate by rescinding offers to incoming associates or by deferring new associates’ start dates, Frost Brown Todd reduced new associates’ salaries but offset that reduction by providing more training and skill-development opportunities with more modest first year goals for billable hours. Clients benefit as well: To the extent that a first-year Frost Brown Todd associate does apprenticeship work for a client, the client is not billed for the associate’s time. Traditional first-year associate work that is billed to clients is billed at a reduction from current first year rates.
