The Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, is one of the biggest shifts in the U.S. legal system in many ways. As a tax, it has numerous implications for businesses across the country. As a healthcare law, it has the potential to bring revolutionary changes to healthcare delivery in the U.S.

The central tenet of Obamacare is providing better healthcare to more people at lower cost. To do this, the U.S. healthcare system must become dramatically more efficient. And when it comes to efficiency, one of the best drivers is consolidation that reduces duplication and allows providers to share costs through economies of scale.
