Metals broker seeking Green Columbus Fund grant for Joyce Avenue site

The owner of 25 acres at 1000 Joyce Ave. has asked the city for a grant so it can determine the level of environmental contamination on the industrial site northeast of downtown.

The 1000 Joyce Avenue LLC real estate affiliate of DaMing International Metals Inc. wants to redevelop the site and hopes the proposed $157,500 grant will help fund a phase two environmental assessment.

City council will consider legislation in support of the grant Monday.

The developer’s attorney, Joe Reidy of Frost Brown Todd, told me the company brokers recycled metals, such as those from demolition sites. DaMing operates out of an office building on a small portion of the site, he said.
