April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and it is a time officials who work with abused or neglected children take very seriously.

The Court Appointed Special Advocates program in Calloway and Marshall counties makes April a very special month packed with special events and speaking engagements meant to celebrate the good work already accomplished in the community and highlight the need to do more.

CASA By the Lakes Executive Director Lindsey Harlan said the month is meant to raise awareness about children who go through traumatic situations in their lives, often brought on by authority figures like parents or other family members. CASA volunteers, of course, are meant to help guide those children through the tough parts of their lives, but there are so many that go unaided.
