Canton approves more money to protect Sugarcreek wellfield

In June, the city learned that fluid from a spill south of Navarre was dumped in a quarry near the city’s Sugarcreek aquifer

Canton City Council approved contracts for up to $150,000 for legal and environmental services Monday related to the cleanup of Rover Pipeline drilling fluid.

In June, the city learned that fluid from a spill south of Navarre was dumped in a quarry near the city’s Sugarcreek aquifer. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency found diesel fuel in the spilled fluid and samples from the quarry indicated it might also contain diesel fuel.
