Matthew R. Schantz, former co-chair of the intellectual property team at Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, has joined Frost Brown Todd’s Indianapolis office. Schantz joins 30 other intellectual property attorneys at Frost Brown Todd.

Schantz serves a variety of small, medium and large clients, working as a strategic advisor to create and implement intellectual property strategy to make the most out of the things that make their businesses unique. He works to protect inventions, brands, and innovations by patenting inventions and registering trademarks, and he negotiates and drafts licenses of patent rights, trade secrets, software know-how, and other technology rights to enable clients to monetize and leverage their innovations and creativity, as well as those of others. Considering offensive and defensive issues in patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret law, he serves clients in the electrical, electromechanical, Internet, semiconductor, software and electromagnetic technology areas, and also in the furniture and automotive industries. Schantz routinely handles a wide range of intellectual property matters, including technology licenses, patent and trademark applications, and manages and coordinates clients' international intellectual property portfolios.

Along with Schantz’s arrival, the firm has plans to expand the patent practice in the Indianapolis area. “I am excited about the opportunity to further expand FBT’s intellectual property services in the Indianapolis market,” said Schantz, “I look forward to helping bring FBT’s high-quality patent practice to businesses in Indiana.”
