James D. Schoeny
Jay is a senior associate at Frost Brown Todd LLC and practices in the labor and employment department and the drug and medical device practice group. He represents private and public employers on various employment law matters, including claims of wrongful discharge and discrimination. His practice includes offering advice and counsel to employers, advocating clients’ interests through alternative dispute resolution, and litigating on their behalf in court. Jay also specializes in drug and medical device litigation and the defense of major drug manufacturers in product liability suits. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.
Successful representation of national insurance company in Equal Pay Act and Title VII collective action lawsuit. Managed discovery team and drafted over thirty individual motions for summary judgment leading to successful result for client.
Representation of Fortune 500 pharmaceutical corporation in two multidistrict litigation class action lawsuits, coordinating and conducting fact and expert discovery and motions practice for several hundred individual product liability claims.
Frequent practice before U.S. District Courts and Ohio state courts, as well as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Ohio Civil Rights Commission, performing all aspects of litigation and negotiation, including motions practice, fact and expert discovery, mediation and other alternative dispute resolution, and trial work.
