Steven J. Strawbridge
As a member at Frost Brown Todd, Steve Strawbridge practices construction, business and general litigation. He represents businesses, fraternal organizations, manufacturers, general contractors, owners, subcontractors, design professionals and sureties. Steve is involved in construction contract drafting, claims, negotiation and issue resolution for numerous large-scale projects, including power plants, hospitals, stadiums, university buildings, state and federal buildings, and a wide range of commercial structures. Additionally, he defends businesses, fraternal organizations, employers and premises owners concerning a wide range of personal injury claims.
Experience
Represented large public utility and successfully resolved multi-million dollar lawsuit filed by a Chicago subcontractor in reference to an electrical power plant
Successfully represented subcontractor sued by a university in reference to alleged stadium deficiencies and actively participated in a mediation involving over 20 parties
Successfully defended a national restaurant chain and secured a defense verdict after a two-week trial for the local franchisee concerning multiple claims filed by five plaintiffs in litigation alleging defective security, negligent hiring, negligent retention and principal/agent liability
Helped contractors recover unpaid funds from owners on school projects, stadiums, hospitals, and a wide range of commercial projects
Successfully resolved claims against an orphanage filed by a former occupant alleging negligent security which allowed multiple acts of sexual abuse to occur over several years
Represented a surety and, after a contractor default, successfully completed over 15 large construction projects including schools, a hotel, jail, and university structures
Successfully resolved claims against a hotel alleging premises liability, lack of security, negligent hiring, negligent retention and principal/agent liability concerning injuries to a hotel guest caused by an employee criminal assault
Resolved through mediation claims against a landowner alleging lack of security, premises liability, and principal/agent liability arising from a criminal assault
Successfully defended a general contractor against claims asserted by a university concerning construction of a multi-story student dormitory
Defended contractors in a wide range of lawsuits, including wrongful death claims and commercial disputes
