Emily is a member of the firm's litigation department and environmental practice group. She assists clients with a wide array of litigation matters in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, including environmental litigation, tort defense and product liability, and commercial litigation.  Emily also provides regulatory counseling involving the CAA, CWA, CERCLA, and RCRA; and assists clients in the purchase and sale of property involving potential environmental contamination.


  • Drafted briefs and memoranda for a large utility in a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) challenge to a generation and transmission project that resulted in a Summary Judgment ruling for the client
  • Successfully defended mining permits and water permits in administrative hearings
  • Represented the interests of a large utility in federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) litigation that resulted in a successful settlement
  • Defended a large manufacturer in a toxic tort case
  • Managed the transfer of environmental permits for multiple manufacturing facilities due to a corporate reorganization
  • Counseled a steel company involving various RCRA and Clean Air Act compliance issues
  • Conducted a due diligence review for a client in connection with the purchase of coal mining operations
  • Assisted an international pharmaceutical company with the sustainable development of a former industrial site
