Alana R. Shockey
Alana focuses her practice on environmental litigation and regulatory matters.
Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, she served as an Associate Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Enforcement Section and Assistant Attorney General in the Planning and Analysis Section of the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
In the Environmental Enforcement Section, Alana represented the State of Ohio and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency in state enforcement litigation and administrative proceedings. In the Planning and Analysis Section, Alana served on the Advanced Energy team, drafted the Environmental Background Investigation Unit statute and rule amendments, and co-led the Economic Development Accountability Program. Alana was also a member of the Ohio Attorney General's Major Appeals Group and assisted the Ohio Solicitor General with brief writing and legal research.
Alana has experience litigating complex wastewater treatment issues including water quality based effluent limits derived from total maximum daily loads (TMDLs) and statewide water quality standards.
Her experience includes litigation regarding Ohio EPA’s 401 certification program for impacts to wetlands and streams and she has been involved in groundwater contamination cases.
Alana has also been involved in Clean Air Act Title V permit actions related to air pollution control.
Currently, Alana is assisting an Ohio EPA established advisory committee that is working on a nutrient rulemaking to be proposed by Ohio EPA that will regulate discharges of phosphorus and nitrogen to waters of the State
