Alex's practice has an emphasis in health care related boards, including the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners and the Tennessee Board of Nursing. Alex is currently a faculty member at the Vanderbilt Center for Professional Health, where she teaches a Continuing Medical Education course, which is a part of the Center’s Maintaining Proper Boundaries and Prescribing Controlled Drugs curriculum. Alex also serves as part of the planning committee for a course on Prescribing for Nurse Practitioners.

Prior to joining FBT, Alex created the administrative law practice at Thompson Burton, a boutique business law firm in Franklin, Tennessee. Alex's background as a former law clerk to the administrative law judges of Tennessee gives her a unique perspective into the administrative law process, which helps her better serve her clients. She has also served as a law clerk to the Honorable William J. Haynes, Jr., Chief Judge for U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee.

Alex is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School, where she was a Dean’s Scholar recipient and served as the vice president of the Vanderbilt Bar Association and president of the Native American Law Student Association. During her time at Vanderbilt, Alex took part in mock trial and moot court. She previously served as an intern to both former Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and the Metropolitan Nashville District Attorney’s Office.
