Amy Stewart Johnson
Amy is a litigator and legal consultant in the firm's Government Services Practice Group. Amy’s clients consist mainly of public entities (including school and municipal corporations) and private business.
Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, Amy was the Indiana Regional Assistant General Counsel for Nationwide Insurance Company. Amy specialized in delivering legal opinions which incorporate complex analysis and a balance of legal risk versus business reality. As a risk management presenter, Amy conducted legal risk assessment and avoidance training for over 400 associates per year. Presentation topics include Privacy Act Compliance, Good Faith Claims Handling, Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Law, Regulatory Compliance and Coverage Analysis. Participation in Catastrophic Event Coverage Committee, Underwriting Profitability Task Force, Amicus, Claims and Legislative Steering Committees for Indiana Insurance Institute.
Amy's legislative work includes serving as a key contact for the Hospital Lien Statute Amendment in the 2013 Indiana Legislative Session, participating in House and Senate committee meetings and hearings, and testifying in front of a Senate committee.
Amy honed her litigation skills in the public sector, serving as a Deputy Prosecutor and a Deputy Attorney General in the state of Indiana. As a member of the Tort Litigation Division, Amy tried five jury trials and numerous bench trials, defending state agencies including the Department of Transportation, Department of Corrections, Department of Natural Resources, and Indiana State Police.
