Andrew is a litigator who primarily serves the needs of the energy industry. Among many other engagements, he has represented a multitude of oil and gas exploration and production companies in a variety of lease disputes, business disputes, land ownership disputes, employment matters, and mechanics' lien claims. Andrew has extensive experience prosecuting curative litigations, particularly those pursued under the Pennsylvania Dormant Oil and Gas Act. He has also guided oil and gas companies through a multitude of interactions with various state and federal agencies.

Andrew has significant experience outside the industry, as well. He has represented a large international corporation in claims of defective design and fraud, multiple architects and engineers in various disputes, a medical professional facing the dissolution of his partnership, multiple project owners in construction disputes, and the world's largest steel-producing company in personal injury claims asserted by facility employees.

Before joining FBT, Andrew worked with two Pittsburgh law firms. He has been recognized in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers® magazine, an honor limited to the top 2.5 percent of young attorneys in the state.

Academically, Andrew earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003. He received his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University in 2000. While at Penn State, he was a nine-time academic All-Big Ten honoree.

  • Represented an oil and gas lessee in multiple royalty and lease avoidance litigations (U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania).

  • Represented an oil and gas exploration and production company's former employees in lease dispute litigation (U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania).

  • Represented an oil and gas exploration and production company in a class action lawsuit (U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania).

  • Represented an oil and gas exploration and production company in multiple lease dispute litigations (Court of Common Pleas Cameron County and Court of Common Pleas Elk County).

  • Represented an oil and gas exploration and production company in various mechanics' lien claims asserted by contractor (Court of Common Pleas of Butler County).

  • Represented an oil and gas exploration and production company in an employment dispute (Court of Common Pleas Allegheny County).

  • Represented an oil and gas exploration and production company in quiet title actions (Court of Common Pleas Jefferson County, Court of Common Pleas Clearfield County, and Court of Common Pleas Centre County).

  • Represented architect in lawsuit arising out of an injury resulting from alleged parking lot design errors (Court of Common Pleas Blair County).

  • Represented an architect in a dispute involving the municipal owner and consulting HVAC engineer in a claim arising from alleged design specification errors in the geothermal heating system for an intermodal transportation center (private arbitration).

  • Represented a structural engineer in an error/omission claim following the collapse of a structure caused by excavation subsidence (Court of Common Pleas Allegheny County).

  • Represented a school district in a construction claim made by a disgruntled HVAC contractor (private arbitration).

  • Represented the world's largest steel-producing company in personal injury claims asserted by facility employees (West Virginia State Court).

  • Represented an engineering firm in claims of design specification errors by a contractor (Court of Common Pleas Armstrong County).

  • Represented a hospice facility in a professional malpractice suit against an accounting firm (Court of Common Pleas Greene County and Court of Common Pleas Allegheny County).

  • Represented a company and its principals in a lawsuit, including an injunction, against the former owner of the company (Court of Common Pleas Greene County).

  • Represented a bankruptcy trustee in various matters pending before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

  • Represented a company in a preference avoidance lawsuit pursued by a trustee (U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Kentucky).

  • Represented a large national cooperative in claims against its members (Court of Common Pleas Butler County).

  • Represented a service station owner in a claim against the Storage Tank Indemnification Fund and a contractor (state administrative process and Court of Common Pleas Butler County).

  • Represented an individual and company in claims against the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (state administrative process and Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court).

  • Represented an international corporation in claims of defective design and fraud (Court of Common Pleas Lawrence County).

  • Represented a corporation and its principal owner in claims of fraud and failure to adhere to corporate formalities (Court of Common Pleas Allegheny County).
