Junis L. Baldon
Junis joined Frost Brown Todd in 2009. Junis is a member of the firm’s business litigation department and concentrates his practice in the areas of complex business litigation, products liability, and appellate litigation. Junis has worked on matters involving a wide range of clients including utilities, government entities, and corporations.
Junis received his B.A. from the University of Kentucky, magna cum laude and his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. At Moritz, Junis served as the president of the Black Law Students Association and was a member of moot court, the moot court governing board, and The Ohio State Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal. His article, Taking a Backseat: How Delaware Can Alter the Role of the SEC in Evaluating Shareholder Proposals was selected for publication in the 2009 edition of the Journal. As a member of moot court, he was awarded the “Best Brief Award” in the Frederick Douglas Midwest Regional Moot Court Competition. Also during law school, Junis served as a judicial extern for The Honorable Judge Guy Reece of the Franklin County, Ohio Court of Common Pleas.
Representative Matters
Successfully briefed and argued to preliminarily enjoin a state campaign finance statute limiting individual contributions to $100 in school board elections. Foster v. Dilger, 2010 WL 3620238, *1 (E.D. Ky. Sept. 9, 2010).
Successfully defended against a Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court in case involving Ten Commandment displays in government buildings as a violation of the First Amendment. McCreary County v. ACLU of Kentucky, No. 10-566, 79 USLW 3286 (Oct. 27, 2010), Brief in Opposition, 2010 WL 5399201, *1 (filed Dec. 27, 2010).
Drafted brief successfully arguing that the First Amendment deprived a trial court of subject matter jurisdiction to interpret a church's constitution and bylaws. Nelson v. Baker, 2011 WL 1218261, *1 (Ky. App. Apr. 1, 2011).
