Nelson is a member of Frost Brown Todd's litigation department and  serves as the member-in-charge of the Indianapolis office. He also directs the efforts of the manufacturing section of the firm’s business litigation practice group.  Nelson has extensive trial and appellate experience in representing clients in business disputes and product liability matters. He has handled cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

Nelson's primary focus is the representation of suppliers and manufacturers of end goods and components. His industry experience includes representation of manufacturers of child restraints, consumer products, automobiles, medical devices, power saws, motorcycles, air bags and seat belt restraints. He has represented these clients in claims involving Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code, and the United Nations Convention on the International Sale of Goods, as well as, other contracted and extracontractual disputes.  In addition, he handles product liability litigation, defending manufacturers in personal injury claims.

Nelson's appellate cases include: Schultz v. Ford Motor Company; Morgen v. Ford Motor Company; Johnson v. Celebration Fireworks, Inc.; Sims v. United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company; Stamper v. Hyundai Motor America and Mays/Yosha v. Trump.

He has also authored several amicus curiae briefs in the product liability arena, including an amicus curiae brief for the Defense Research Institute in Kumho Tire Co., Ltd v. Carmichael, 526 U.S. 137, 119 S. Ct. 1167, 143 L.Ed.2d 238 (1999), addressing the reliability of expert testimony, and an amicus curiae brief for the Product Liability Advisory Council in McIntosh v. Melroe Co., 682 N.E.2d 822 (Ind. App. 1997), defending the constitutionality of the statute of repose provision of Indiana's Product Liability Act.
