Scott is a senior associate at Frost Brown Todd LLC.  He has experience with patent prosecution, portfolio management, and freedom to practice with an expertise in chemistry. Scott has represented a variety of clients, from small start-up companies to large multi-national corporations to university researchers.

Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, Scott worked at Eastman Kodak as a synthetic organic chemist developing small molecules for use as photographic couplers in photographic film and materials for Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED).  As a result, he is an inventor on ten U.S. patents.  In graduate school, his research focused on the synthesis of natural products in the laboratory of K.C. Nicolaou at The Scripps Research Institute.

These experiences have provided Scott with an understanding of the process for developing and bringing new products to market.  He communicates well with scientists.

Experience

Patent preparation and prosecution (U.S. and foreign)

Performed a non-infringement and invalidity analysis of a cancer chemoprotective compound from a brassica plant source that was used to assist the client in obtaining a favorable settlement of a patent infringement case.

Performed a non-infringement and invalidity analysis to advise the client of potential problems with an ANDA pharmaceutical filing.

Performed a non-infringement analysis of a water purification product which allowed the client to deal with a competitor's infringement allegation, without revealing the client's trade secrets.
