Louisville attorney Vickie Yates Brown, Co-Chair of the Healthcare Services Team at Frost Brown Todd, has been recognized as a national leader in health care law by being selected as an author in the recently released book, The Impact of Recent Health Care Law Developments.

She authored a chapter on the new HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act) rules under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).  “Healthcare is a rapidly changing area of law,” said Brown.  “There are so many nuances, too, that it’s critical to stay abreast of the latest statutory and regulatory changes.”

Published by Aspatore Books, a Thomson Reuters business, the book is an authoritative, insider’s perspective on key strategies for navigating recent legal trends and remaining abreast of potential developments in the health care industry.  It features partners from some of the nation’s leading law firms who provide insight into various sectors of health care law, including fraud enforcement, information technology, and Medicare and Medicaid.  The authors discuss recent decisions at the state and federal level, and they predict upcoming legal advancements in the health care industry.

Brown is an experienced leader in health and sciences law and business. She specializes in privacy, security and technology transfer.  In 2008 Brown was named president and CEO of Nucleus, a firm providing business management and consulting services to support entrepreneurs engaged in life sciences.

Brown recently completed a term as Chairwoman of the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Health Enterprises Network. A member of the editorial board of the BNA Health Law Reporter, she also has served on the Advisory Council for the Human Genome Project and National Institute of Diabetes, Digestion and Kidney Disease as part of the National Institutes of Health.  She has delivered numerous national and international presentations and co-authored publications on health care law and government regulation.
