Warren J. Hoffmann chairs the Firm’s Natural Resources and Energy Law Practice Area. He practices corporate and commercial law, concentrating on issues effecting the coal and electric utility industries.
Mr. Hoffmann has devoted most of his professional career to handling energy related matters, including coal reserve acquisition, leasing and permitting, purchases and sales of mining companies, contract mining and coal preparation agreements, transloading and transportation facilities and contracts, financing coal mining operations, issues arising under SMCRA and MSHA, sales and leases of mining equipment, coalbed methane/oil and gas development and synthetic fuel transactions. Mr. Hoffmann negotiates and documents fuel supply contracts for utilities and coal companies, and also counsels clients in the disputes that often arise from such agreements.
Having joined the Firm in 1984, he has also worked extensively on mergers and acquisitions of other businesses, including healthcare providers and financial institutions. Mr. Hoffmann continues to devote a significant portion of his practice to a variety of corporate and commercial transactions.
