Foreign trips sell Cincinnati to overseas businesses
Joe Dehner's sales pitch to lure foreign companies to Cincinnati is packed with information about taxes, schools, the legal system, the labor force and the region's cultural attractions.
Sometimes, though, the most important thing he brings to the meeting is a map, which comes in handy when the person sitting across the table starts the conversation by asking, "Where is Cincinnati?"
Answering that question – and convincing businesses this is a place they want to be – is the mission of a revamped and aggressive economic development team that's selling Greater Cincinnati to the world as never before.
REDI Cincinnati, along with Dehner and other partners, is in the middle of an unprecedented globe-trotting campaign that this year will take teams to India, Israel, Japan, Germany, France, Great Britain and all over the United States. The latest trip begins this weekend with a flight to Tel Aviv.
