"Legal Food Frenzy" campaign nets 630,000 pounds of food for regional food banks; DBL among winners
During the second-annual Kentucky Legal Food Frenzy, the state’s legal community donated more than 630,000 pounds of food to benefit children in need, Attorney General Andy Beshear announced. The 2018 campaign, which lasted from March 15 through April 2, was an opportunity for Kentucky lawyers and legal staff to compete outside the courtroom to donate food and raise funds. Proceeds generated help Kentucky’s seven regional food banks prepare for increased food demand during the summer months. Last year the food banks distributed over 75 million pounds of food across 120 counties. Beshear said this year’s competition helps to support the one in 12 children who receive free or reduced-priced lunch during the school year but do not have access to such meals during the summer.
