Poor VA ratings embarrassing to Middle Tennessee
Veteran and Nashville attorney James Mackler: Dramatic, comprehensive change is needed at every level
The news that the Nashville and Murfreesboro Veterans Administration hospitals are among the worst in the nation for mental health care, wait times and patient satisfaction is unforgiveable for Middle Tennessee.
This failure is occurring in the heart of a region known for world-class health care. The health care industry contributes $30 billion to the local economy. Nashville is home to HCA and Vanderbilt Medical Center, among many other fine institutions. The privileged Tennesseans with good health care insurance or deep pockets can choose from a bountiful platter of doctors, hospitals and high-tech treatments.
