November 22, 2010

Nicholas C. Pappas, a partner in Frost Brown Todd’s Indianapolis office, was named “Indiana Defense Lawyer of the Year” by the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana (DTCI).  Pappas received the award at the Board of Directors dinner, during DTCI’s annual meeting on November 17, held at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Ind.

DTCI is an association of Indiana lawyers who defend corporations and individuals in civil litigation. Its mission is to assist and support members in the substantive and management aspects of their law practices. According to DTCI, the “Indiana Defense Lawyer of the Year Award” is awarded annually to an attorney who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee, and approved by the Board of Directors, promotes the interests of DTCI by demonstrating commitment in the past year in the areas of litigation, legislation, publication or participation in local, state or national defense organizations.  Pappas and his team won a defense verdict for a manufacturer in a product liability wrongful death case in Alabama, and subsequently obtained a unanimous decision in their client’s favor from the Alabama Supreme Court.

Pappas is a trial lawyer, concentrating his practice in product liability, personal injury and commercial litigation. He serves as national lead trial counsel for a major construction and agricultural equipment manufacturer; representing clients in lawsuits in state and federal courts throughout the country. Pappas serves on the Defense Research Institute’s Products Liability Committee and is the chair of the ACMIE (Agricultural, Construction, Mining and Industrial Equipment) Specialized Litigation Group. Pappas is also a Distinguished Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, where he currently is a vice president of the Board of Directors.
