Frost Brown Todd Names Eight New Associates
Frost Brown Todd is pleased to announce the addition of eight new associates to the firm: Laura A. Van Hyfte, Ryan S. Lett, M. Todd Lewis, Jonathan K. Powers, Carolyn A. Pytynia, Rachel E. Moore Schafer, A. Thomas (Tommy) Sturgeon III, and Colleen Tersmette.
Laura A. Van Hyfte practices in the Indianapolis office in the Products Liability and Mass Tort practice group. She rejoins the firm, after working as a summer associate in 2010. Laura earned her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as an executive editor for the Michigan Journal of Race & Law. Laura is also a member of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity.
Ryan S. Lett practices business litigation in the Cincinnati office. Ryan attended the Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, and was awarded the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence. In addition, Ryan was an associate editor and business editor of the Ohio State Law Journal, and volunteered as a member of the Pro Bono Research Group. Ryan rejoins the firm, after working as a summer associate in 2010.
M. Todd Lewis will practice in the Lexington office in the Personal & Succession Planning practice group. Prior to joining the firm, Todd earned his Master of Laws degree in Taxation from the University of Florida – Levin College of Law, where he served as coach of the Tax Moot Court Board. Prior to receiving his master’s degree, Todd attended the Charleston School of Law in S.C., where he was the associate managing editor of the Charleston Law Review, associate justice for the Moot Court Board, and volunteered as a VITA Income Tax preparer for low-income families in the Charleston area. Todd will take the Kentucky bar exam in February 2012.
Jonathan K. Powers will practice in the Louisville office in the Tax, Benefits and Entrepreneurial Services practice group. He concentrates his practice in tax controversy, executive compensation, and non-profit organizations. Jon rejoins the firm, after working as a summer associate with the firm in 2010. He graduated from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law- Bloomington in 2011, where he was a Board of Visitors Scholar and served as managing editor of the Indiana Law Journal. Jon will take the Kentucky bar exam in February 2012.
Carolyn (Carrie) A. Pytynia practices in the Louisville office, focusing on the areas of commercial real estate and lending. Prior to joining the firm, Carrie attended Vanderbilt University Law School where she served as student writing editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. Carrie also received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a major in Political Science and minors in Spanish and Corporate Strategy.
Rachel Moore Schafer practices in the Indianapolis office in the Business Litigation practice group. Rachel earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2011, where she served as notes editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. While in law school, she interned for the Honorable Sarah Evans Barker of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. She received her undergraduate degree in Communication from DePauw University in 2008. Rachel was a summer associate with the firm in 2010.
A. Thomas (Tommy) Sturgeon, III practices business litigation in the Louisville office. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Belmont University, and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, where he graduated as valedictorian, summa cum laude, and served as editor-in-chief of the University of Louisville Law Review. Tommy also previously interned for Judge Danny Boggs of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and was inducted into the Brandeis Honor Society.
Colleen Tersmette practices in the Cincinnati office in the Intellectual Property practice group. She focuses on patent prosecution in a variety of areas, including mechanical, electrical, and medical devices. She attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude, Order of the Coif, and served as an associate member of the Cincinnati Law Review. Prior to joining the firm, Colleen was a law clerk at Maginot, Moore & Beck LLP and General Electric.
