Senate confirms Nashville attorney Chip Campbell as federal judge for Middle Tennessee

One judicial nominee from Tennessee has been confirmed, but three others are still waiting for senators to act on their nomination.

The Senatevoted 97-0 on Tuesday to confirm Nashville attorney William “Chip” Campbell Jr. to become a U.S. District Court judge for the state's Middle District, which includes Nashville and the surrounding counties.

President Donald Trump nominated Campbell for the judicial post in July. Campbell will replace Chief U.S. District Judge Kevin H. Sharp, who resigned last year to start and manage a Nashville office of a national civil rights and employment law firm.
