Amy works primarily with FBT's "Government Services" and "Tort and Insurance" practice groups counseling schools, municipal corporations and other public entities as well as defending businesses and their employees in personal injury and negligence lawsuits. Amy honed her litigation skills in the public sector, previously serving in Indiana as a Deputy Prosecutor and Deputy Attorney General. As a member of the Indiana Attorney General’s Tort Litigation Division, Amy tried numerous jury and bench trials defending state agencies including the Department of Transportation, Department of Corrections, Department of Natural Resources, and Indiana State Police.

Amy has counseled a major city's Private Industry Council on projects involving FERPA and privacy compliance and data-sharing agreements. She represents private and public-school systems in lawsuits involving allegations of sexual misconduct, student suicide, bullying, hazing, etc. She is particularly knowledgeable in the area of Special Education, including Individualized Education Plans and IDEA compliance. In her work defending cities and towns, Amy has represented group health plan administrators, law enforcement agencies, public officials and judges. Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, Amy was the Indiana Regional Assistant General Counsel for Nationwide Insurance Company. With more than 15 years of experience providing insurance coverage opinions in all lines of business, Amy has led clients through a variety of ERISA matters, including work representing self-funded health plans governed by ERISA and matters involving subrogation, coordination of benefits, and conflicts with stop-loss carriers. She works with corporate counsel in delivering legal opinions which balance the complex relationship between legal risk and other business concerns.

Amy has substantial experience in providing training on legal risk assessment and avoidance. Presentation topics have included Privacy Act Compliance, Good Faith Claims-handling, Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Law, Regulatory Compliance, and Coverage Analysis. Amy has also participated in Catastrophic Event Coverage committees, Underwriting Profitability task forces, as well as Amicus, Claims and Legislative Steering Committees for prominent insurance carriers and trade associations.

With legislative experience spanning more than a decade, Amy has participated in Indiana House and Senate committee meetings and testified before a Senate committee on the amendment of a statute related to health care. She continues to advise in areas involving governmental entities and insurance.
