Kenneth M. Perica
Ken provides day-to-day regulatory compliance support to FBT clients by providing assistance in a wide range of regulatory areas. This includes securing permits and permit modifications for the Clean Air Act (Title V), the Clean Water Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Ken serves as a critical resource to the FBT legal staff by helping develop regulatory compliance programs for clients, conducting internal audits and follow-up actions, preparing and conducting training programs, and other initiatives in the EHS area. He also serves as a resource in corporate acquisition and divestiture matters through direct support of EHS due diligence.
Ken also advises clients on spill prevention planning, storm water management, waste reduction initiatives, source reduction alternatives and waste disposal options. He also prepares annual reports to satisfy compliance with EPCRA - Tier 2 Chemical Inventory and TRI chemical release reporting.
Additionally, Ken works on health and safety matters and provides assistance to clients with OSHA regulatory compliance. He assists clients with the implementation of the new Global Harmonization Standard. He also provides specific guidance in emergency planning and preparedness, site security, incident investigations, process safety management (PSM) compliance and other OSHA standards along with training program development. He is actively engaged with employee exposure matters and provides counsel on work place testing and monitoring, PPE selection programs, procedure development, and worker training.
Ken brings extensive management expertise from his previous 30 years work in the chemical and plastics manufacturing businesses where he managed EHS programs at four locations in the United States, including St. Louis, MO; Bridgeport, NJ; Houston, TX; and Cincinnati, OH.
Ken has considerable past work experience in regulatory permitting, compliance program development and implementation, employee training programs, auditing, and third party certifications. He previously managed facilities with wastewater plants, extensive air pollution control equipment, boiler systems, landfills, and thermal incinerators. He is also well versed in other aspects of manufacturing, including site infrastructure, utility operations, transportation systems, QA/QC laboratories, maintenance, engineering, and capital project management.
Ken was directly involved with multiple corporate mergers, acquisitions and divestitures along with the associated environmental due diligence of those transactions. This also included the evaluation of soil and ground water conditions and various remedial action projects.
Ken also has considerable experience in managing safety, medical and industrial hygiene programs. This includes general compliance with OSHA regulations, process safety management (PSM) standards, site security, emergency preparedness, incident investigations, work place exposure assessments, and medical surveillance programs.
Ken is experienced in the area of organizational redesign where EHS compliance responsibilities were integrated throughout a manufacturing organization.
Ken also has an extensive background in chemical trade association work at the state and federal levels involving various advocacy programs and lobbying initiatives. He previously served as an officer and board member of the Ohio Chemistry Technology Council. Nationally, he was a past member of the American Chemistry Council and served on the State Government Affairs Round Table Committee.
Ken also worked in the environmental consulting business in Cincinnati where he supported a variety of clients with environmental and safety related projects. He also worked directly for manufacturers providing temporary EHS staffing services.
