Tax Audit, Controversy and Litigation
Frost Brown Todd’s Tax Audit, Controversy and Litigation Practice Group is recognized as a leader in resolving tax audit matters throughout our seven-state footprint. Our lawyers are experienced in representing taxpayers at all levels before federal, state and local tax authorities. We routinely handle IRS audits at the revenue agent level and at the protest level before the IRS Appeals Office. Although most tax audits or controversy are resolved at the administrative level, our attorneys regularly represent taxpayers in court when no administrative settlement can be reached. Our attorneys have represented clients in litigation before the United States Tax Court, Federal District Courts, the Court of Federal Claims and at the appellate level before the United States Court of Appeals. Our lawyers have extensive trial experience in private practice and have also litigated cases for the United States Department of Justice Tax Division. Further, we are regarded for our substantive tax knowledge as some of us teach federal taxation at colleges and law schools throughout our region.
Frost Brown Todd’s Tax Audit, Controversy and Litigation Group combines the tax knowledge of tax law professors with the real-world trial experience of former government lawyers to provide the best possible advice to individuals and corporations facing both domestic and international tax issues.
We have litigated tax cases for large Fortune 500 companies and every other form of business entity as well as estates, trusts, individuals and nonprofit entities. Our tax controversy lawyers routinely handle tax cases ranging from the tax audit to complex partnership issues, international concerns or sophisticated tax shelters.
