  • Frost Brown Todd Member John Wagster Recognized for Thought Leadership in Blockchain and Cryptocurrency

Frost Brown Todd (FBT) Member John Wagster has been named to The National Law Journal’s “Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, and Fintech Trailblazers” list, which is part of a special supplement in the Journal’s September issue.

John’s inclusion on the “Trailblazers” list makes him one of 50 attorneys nationwide to be recognized for their thought leadership in this complex and ever-evolving area of the law and for the instrumental role they have played in facilitating blockchain innovation.

The Journal notes that Wagster has been practicing in the FinTech space since the mid-90’s and first recognized the vast potential (along with the myriad regulatory concerns) of blockchain computing as early as 2010. It also notes that Wagster has had a major impact on Nashville’s burgeoning blockchain community, having founded the Tennessee Blockchain Alliance, a business and advocacy group that promotes legislative initiatives to bring jobs, technology, and investment dollars to the state.

At Frost Brown Todd, Wagster co-chairs the firm’s Blockchain and Digital Currency Group along with Nashville Member Gray Sasser. Under their leadership, the group has assisted scores of companies with initial coin offerings (ICOs) and the commercialization of blockchain-based distributed computing applications (Dapps). Additionally, they have also assisted in the creation of creative investment vehicles, including crypto-currency denominated hedge funds. Wagster and his team currently represent a broad array of clients in the blockchain ecosystem, including token launch platforms, exchanges, marketers, consultants and crypto mining companies. They have also represented ICOs before the Securities and Exchange Commission.
