Sean M. Whyte
Sean Whyte focuses his practice on business litigation, blockchain, and digital currency. Based on insights from years of experience representing individual blockchains, cryptocurrency exchanges and companies building businesses with blockchain technology, Sean advises companies on the legal implications of blockchain. He formerly served as chief operating officer and general counsel of a blockchain software development company and remains on the cutting-edge of distributed ledger technology through his industry connections. Sean also uses his former in-house legal experience to aid early stage technology start-ups with their unique legal issues.
Sean’s business litigation practice involves representation of companies in the energy, transportation, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare industries. He has taken numerous cases to trial in both state and federal court. Before practicing law in Dallas, Sean earned his M.A. in Philosophy from Bowling Green State University and completed all the course work for a Ph.D. He taught Philosophy at various colleges before attending law school.
Advised QuantmRE—a company tokenizing Real Estate using blockchain—on the structuring of tokens in compliance with U.S. securities laws.
Advised NEM North America—associated with one of the 20 largest cryptocurrencies (XEM) by market capitalization—regarding structuring of their operations in the United States.
Serves as lead litigation counsel for Premier Trailer Leasing in litigation pending across Texas.
